The British specialty magazine group, Future, bucked the worsening economy by announcing this week that it had posted a small rise in revenue last year as a result of a 25 percent increase in online revenue.

Future publishes more than 80 magazines and produces more than 60 Websites. Revenue from online sites represented 25 percent of the group's advertising revenue last year.

The magazine group sees its niche titles as an ideal way to build Web-based communities.
